Tawaf & its Explanation

Tawaf is one of the Islamic rituals obtained by circulating around the Kaaba, in Mecca, especially related to Pilgrims i.e. the Hajj and Umrah, but Tawaf can be perform any time during the year isolated to Hajj or Umrah.

Muslim circulate around the Kaba seven times simply called Tawaf, starting from the black stone called al-Ḥajar al-'Aswad installed on Kaba’s corner, which is considered to be most secret sight Muslims ever experience in their spiritual times, which demonstrate unity of Muslim Ummah on the issue that they believe there is no God but Allah, and He is single with none other they worship.

There are four type of Tawam which are practiced by the Muslim during their journey to Mecca, namely Ṭawāf al-Qudūm, Ṭawāf aṭ-Ṭaḥīyah, Ṭawāf al-Umrah, Ṭawāf al-Wadā and Ṭawāf az-Zīyārah. However, all types of Tawaf starts by kissing the black stone called Ḥajar-e-Aswad.

Ṭawāf al-Qudūm is a kind of Tawafs which is performed by the people who are not from Mecca i.e. the residents of Mecca City (The Holy City). Where Ṭawāf aṭ-Ṭaḥīyah is one which is recommended (Mustahib/Mubah) performed by everyone who enters in Masjid al Haram anytime.

However, Ṭawāf al-Umrah cannot be performed by anyone but those whom have intention to perform Umrah. And those who are about to leave the Mecca, perform Ṭawāf al-Wadā. Ṭawāf az-Zīyārah, Ṭawāf al-'Ifāḍah or Ṭawāf al-Ḥajj is performed after casting stones, sacrificing animals (hadi) shaving the hair etc.

In other words, Ṭawāf az-Zīyārah, Ṭawāf al-'Ifāḍah or Ṭawāf al-Ḥajj in connected only to the Hajj or those who are in intention to perform the Hajj. And Muslims say “O Allah gives us good in this life, and good in the Hereafter and save us from the Punishment of the Fire.” between the two corners. As Allah mentioned in Holy Quran,
 

Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire.
[Noble Quran 2:201]
