Hajj Umrah

Both Hajj and umrah are the holy pilgrimage of Islam and a huge number of Muslims perform this every year.

Hajj can be performed in fixed dates of Islamic year which came in the last month of year while umrah can be performed any time in the whole year there is no time restriction placed on it.

Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca which is located in Saudi Arabia and the dictionary meaning of the word Umrah says ‘A visit to Populated place’ but as you might know that Islam has its own set of definitions for every things.

In Islam umrah means to perform Tawaf round Qabba, and then perform Sa’i between two hills of Safa and Al-Marwah after wearing Ihram from Miqat a place near Qabba.

Umrah is also known as Minor hajj which is not a compulsory thing like hajj, and have few steps of hajj included in the procedure. Hajj is the largest holy gathering of Muslims in Mecca and is organized every year with full enthusiasm and Holy Spirit.

The history of hajj goes back to about 2000 BCE and links to Hazart Ibrahim, however we are not going to discuss the history in detail. The rites of hajj include tawaf, Sayi, Arafat, Muzdalifah, Ramy al Jamarat, Eid-ul-Azha and then Tawaf-al-Ifaadah.
