Muslims - Definition According to Quran and Traditions

The definition of Muslim or Moslem, is one who submits to Allah (God) as a follower of the religion of Islam based on the Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad SAWW called Hadith. A female Muslim is sometimes also called a "Muslimah", as both Muslim and Muslimah are Arabic words literally mean “who submits”.

Additionally, Muslim has a firm belief on the ones of Allah Subhana Ta’ala as a creator, and he believe that Quran is final and verbatim word of God (Allah) revealed to the final Prophet and the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad SAWW. Moreover, also follow the teachings and practices of Muhammad SAWW as recorded in traditional accounts called hadith.

One who want to convert to Islam to become a Muslim, has to recite the following verses,
 

“There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God.”


Whoever publically announces this statement is considered to be a Muslim, which is called Shahadah, a declaration of faith or witnessing. Along with this witnessing statement, he also has to prove it by practicing the Islamic rituals and believing on the other detailed and decisive teachings of Islam. And to become a good Muslim, one has also to be aware and become a practicing Muslim more than fundamental teachings of Islam.
