significance-of-786-in-islam

There are many of myth popular in Islamic world such as a superstition that 786 perhaps has vital role in the life of Muslims and his/her fate.

So we can find different meanings of 786 defined by different type of mentalities holding personalities. Whatever they define 786, Muslim believe that 786 is most important word in their life. And there exist overwhelming opinion amongst the Muslims (Even in non-Muslims) that 786’s literal meaning is ‘In the name of Allah’ (Biismillah) which is also widely used in the world.

Therefore, when staring writing any documentation of letter, when deciding Car No, Mobile No, Telephone No etc. most of the Muslims try to have 786 in their respective dealings, consequently ’786′ is used to sale in very high rates.

However, 786 mainly meant as equal to ‘Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’. Therefore most of the Muslim considered it as sacred number. So let’s examine if 786 means ‘Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’, and if not then from where it dig out in Islamic perception.

The innovation of adding ’786′ in replacement with ‘Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’ has been adopted since long and the majority of the Muslims are still indulged in it without knowing the reality.

As for Islam, this tradition is not from the time of the Prophet SAWW or his Sahaba. It developed much later, perhaps during the later 'Abbasid period. Therefore, you will not find any evidence of replacing ’786′ to Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’ or using ’786′ in any context in Quran you will even not find any evidence regarding use of ‘786’ in the Sunnah of Beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAWW, be it saying of Prophet or act.

As for from the life of Sahaba R.A, you will not find a single evidence in use of letter 786 in replacement with Bismillaah. So these were the fundamental sources of Islam and we are unable to find 786 there. Thus ‘786’ has nothing to do with Islam.

As for the number people used to derive from ‘Bismillaah al-Rahmaan al-Raheem’, this is not in any sense could be derived, nor the Quran, Prophet SAWW or Sahaba R.A guide us to do so. Whereas, the aggregate of 786 could be the name of Hindu ‘Lord Hari Krishna’. For example,

H(a)iri Kr(i)shna h-5, r-200, r-10, k-20, r-200, sh-300, n-50, a-1 = Aggregate of 786

So you could not find any significance of 786 in Islam. Thus 786 has nothing to do with Islam, even famous scholars in the history of Islam had not paid any attention to this foolish letter. So Ummah also must not pay any attention to the letter 786 in any case. Jazakallah
