Everyone has to face ups and downs in his/her life, causing many a problems and distress. A Muslim must seek dua from Allah and solution from Islamic Sharia even if he/she is in the state of distress. This is Islam which also guides man how to face distressful problems in a very gentle manner and let men stand firm even in a very difficult situation.

You can say following dua if you are in state of distress and sorrow as,
 

Translation: O Allah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You

Transliteration: allaahumma raḥmataka arjoo, fa laa takilnee ilaa nafsee ṭarfata ‛aynin, wa aṣliḥ lee sha’nee kullahu, laa ilaaha illaa ant
