Muslim Religion Beliefs - Monotheism, or faith in one God, is the foundation of Islam. It is the most important aspect of Muslim religion beliefs. All Muslims believe in the unity of God who has created and furnished the universe and He has the power and knowledge over everything. He is exclusive, matchless, and glorious above everything He creates, and His greatness is no match to His creation. In fact, He is the only one worthy of being worshiped and the purpose of all creation is to surrender and submit to Him. The Islamic concept of God is distinctive and strives on monotheism. This forms the first step in the ladder of faith for a Muslim and is the most important belief of the Muslim religion.

 

Concept Of God In Islam

Muslims call their God as Allah. This is a universal name for God and does not relate to any god but the King and the Lord of the universe. Interestingly, this name is also linked to the Aramaic and Hebrew names for God, Allaha and Elohim. For that reason, Allah is simply the Arabic name for God which testifies the Unity of Almighty with no partners, predecessors or successors. The quality of the name Allah can be understood by its inability to be pluralized or limited to a specific gender, which establishes that God is One and that He is unique from everything He creates. Muslims continue to use this original Arabic name for God, Allah, since it perfectly expresses His unique qualities.

God is the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe who created everything for a reason. Muslim religion beliefs are based on the fact that He created humankind with a simple purpose" to worship and obey Him. He sent messengers to direct, help and guide people in fulfilling this purpose. A few of these prophets were Adam (a.s), Nuh (a.s), Ibrahim (a.s), Yusuf (a.s), Musa (a.s), Isa (a.s), and Muhammad (p.b.u.h). They all taught the same message about God by verifying His greatness as the Maker, Nurturer and Creator of universe. They guided the people to worship Him alone. This basic teaching has always resonated with people's innate understanding of God.

The major Muslim belief is incomplete without testifying and declaring prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) as the Last Messenger sent by Allah.
When the last messenger, Muhammad (pbuh), was inquired about Allah, the reply came directly from Allah, which is mentioned in the holy book of Muslims, the Quran:

"Say, He is God the One, God the eternal. He begot no one nor was He begotten. No one is comparable to Him." (112:1-4)

This is a clear declaration by Allah about Himself to humankind without any room for uncertainty. God is One, He is Glorious and Exalted. He creates and He is capable and has power over the entire universe, which goes beyond Earth.

Completely accepting the Equity and Unity of God is to recognize that He is distinct from everything and anything else. It would not suit God's majesty and glory to associate the limited qualities of His creation to Him as Allah is not constrained in any way, where as His creation is. He is the First without beginning and the Last without ending. Allah is beyond infinity.

Thus the major belief of Muslims is to testify in all the attributes of Allah and then admit that prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) is the Seal of prophets.

"There is no god but Allah and Prophet Muhammad is his Last Apostle."
