Islamic Facts: Islam is a religion of submission to Allah. It also means peace. We are presenting facts of Islamic faith which will enable you to understand the Islam from its foundations. This basic information will surely help you to understand the Islam with info that probably made you confuse about Islam.

Islam was founded in 622 CE by Prophet Muhammad SAWW who was a trade merchant from Arabia, in Mecca, today’s Saudi Arabia. However, Islam claims that Prophet Muhammad was not founder, but came as a final messenger of Allah from the series of the Prophets before him.

Prophet Muhammad SAWW was born in 570 CE. Today after more than 1400 years, Islam is a second largest religion in population after Christianity, estimated more than 1.3 billion followers or Muslims, where Muslim is one who follows Islam, literally define as one who submit (to God/Allah).

The Muslims are mostly found in Middle East and North Africa, however, they are dense in South east Asian countries like Indonesia and Central Asia like India and Pakistan. Nevethless, Muslims can be found anywhere in the world.

There are two types of the Muslim, i.e. two sect claim to be Islamic mainly Sunni and Shiite, where Sunni Muslim are more or less 4 time more than Shias in population. However, there also exists mystical branch of Islam called Sufi.

Quran and Hadith are the sacred scripture followed by Muslim with having belief that Quran is a word of God (Allah) revealed on Prophet Muhammad SAWW, where hadith are traditions from Prophet Muhammad SAWW other than Quran, also called Sunnah sometimes.

The places where Muslim practices their worships are called Masjid (in English Mosque), however, in Islam, one can pray anywhere, yet Mecca is considered to be the holiest place in the word due to there exists Kaba (The House of Allah) which is also considered to be the symbol of unity in Muslims as all Muslims pray directing to Kaba.
