Prerequisites For Wearing Ihraam

Ihram for hajj is not just to wear or assume like ordinary cloth you put on. Where Ihram means to make haram (Forbidden), there are ways defined and pre-requisites preparations recommended regarding the ruling of Islam on putting Ihram on as it is one of the rituals of the Hajj (Manasik Hajj).
 

How To Wear Ihram

For preparation of wearing ihram, a pilgrim should comb his/her hair, shape the beard and trim the mustache if male, cut the nails, and remove unwanted body hairs described by Islamic Sharia.

After doing all aforementioned actions, next step is purification. Before putting on Ihram for Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) purification of body is required as it is one of the rites of Hajj. There are, however, two methods to purify oneself. So before ihram clothing you can,

• Purify yourself by taking bath (Taking Shower).

• Or purify your body with Wudu.

There is another purification required as preparation for Ihram in hajj ihram which is internal purification. A pilgrim (Haji) must pure his/her inner self and soul with pure intention for hajj and ihram by saying the following words and a like
 

“O Allah! I sincerely repent on my sins and seek you forgiveness”

You can repeat aforementioned word and similar to these word conveying the similar meaning for the inner purification as procedure of assuming Ihram.
