Hajj Facts - Hajj (pilgrimage) is one of well known core religious practices of Islam throughout the world. More than million Muslims from all over the world travel to Mecca to perform hajj at least one time in their life, which they believe is obligatory on every adult Muslim male or female, with the exception of any illness or financial situation. In other words, Hajj is not obligatory on someone according to the teachings of Quran and the Sunnah if he/she is physically or financially incapable of making the trip to Mecca.

However, we are not going here in detail of Hajj (pilgrimage), as the topic of the article suggest to point out the 5 hajj facts to be known as given below.

1.      One of the most important facts to be known to hajj is the numbers of visitor to perform hajj in Mecca. The numbers of visitor or pilgrims were approximately more than the million recorded in last decade; however, about 3 million people performed the hajj in 2012 which in numbers is more than that of 2013 due to some restrictions applied by Saudi Arabia.

4.      Several of the primary rituals or components to perform the hajj involve the number seven, be it performing the tawaf that involves circling the Kaaba seven times, or it is the traveling back and forth between the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times.

5.      The fifth and final facts amongst 5 hajj fact we are giving is that the Hajj is fall together or coincides with one of the major Holiday or Festivals for Muslims i.e. Eid al-Adha which begins on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah. In which Muslims with the financial capability, traditionally slaughter a large animal like a cow, goat or sheep, on Eid al-Adha and distribute portions of the meat to the poor around the world.
